Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota is seeking an Education Coordinator to provide educational opportunities that advance the clinical and professional expertise of staff. The Education Coordinator encompasses many roles: mentor, educator, consultant, leader, and researcher. In collaboration with the leadership team, the Education Coordinator assesses and prioritizes learning needs, designs and develops various educational programs and strategies, facilitates delivery of educational and professional development content, and evaluates effectiveness through analysis of clinical quality and patient safety outcomes. The Education Coordinator acts as both an educational and clinical resource to the care delivery team and other staff, contributing to the organization's culture of learning.

Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
Bachelor's degree in nursing or other healthcare related field is required; Master's degree preferred. Preference will be given to nurses with degrees in Adult Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, or Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred. Must demonstrate advanced knowledge and expertise, incorporating clinically-related evidence-based practices. Three years relevant experience with a minimum of one year as educator or instructor preferred. Must be willing to receive instructor certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed. Must be able to work independently and in collaboration with staff, leaders and physicians. Familiarity with quality reporting measures (Core Measures, HCAHPS, etc.) and regulatory requirements of Joint Commission and CMS preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
• Applies knowledge of continuing education contact hour requirements for various health care clinical disciplines to educational program design and approves contact hour applications.
• Provides feedback, mentoring and coaching for individual associates for optimal performance. Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.
• Assists with integration of new learning, product and/or equipment introduction into the practice environment, assists with implementation of broad organizational change by preparing associated groups for change; assists with learning reinforcement in work areas.
• Communicates programmatic outcomes through written reports or verbal presentations to internal and external groups.
• Coordinates overall planning for assigned courses and revisions. Identifies and recruits internal and external resources (nurse, doctor, specialists) for educational activities.
• Continuously evaluates and improves assigned educational programs. Prepares short and long term planning and programs to address identified needs.
• Coordinates orientation, continuing education, and annual mandatory education programs that are evidenced based, consistent with professional, clinical and regulatory standards, enhance clinical and professional excellence, and are congruent with organizational missions, values and goals.
• Leads committees, work groups and/or projects related to the implementation of educational activities that support staff development.
